Pros

- Unlimited opportunities to learn and grow - Very supportive environment - directors and upper management invest a lot in team development - Fantastic team and company culture - Amazing creative community and opportunities to connect and collaborate - some residents become close friends! - Opportunity to have a say in how the company is run - ideas are heard and listened to! Everyone in the team is encouraged to participate and give feedback and suggestions. - Ability to work autonomously - Awesome location with bar on site

Cons

No cons for me. I really love working here and have grown so much during my time here. I'm super grateful for all the opportunities I've had. It's quite fast paced and challenges do pop up, but I have felt well supported and the learning never stops!

Pros

the role aloud for a lot of autonomy, essentially building the companies brand from the ground up allowed for exploring fun and creative ideas through video and other media content. working in a community with individuals from a wide variety of industries and professions allowed for a lot of networking opportunities.

Cons

management is the real route of the problem in this company. No real ownness or support in building or developing skills within the team to improve work performance or little to no training for certain tasks or cadences. An expectation to go above and beyond for the company with them providing little compensation, career opportunities or growth in the company or any financial bonuses, benefits or incentives other then a monthly staff party. very high turn over of staff - during my year and a half there I saw 12 people start and leave within a team that was usually made up of around 17-20 people. the person helming the company fully expects the whole team to adapt to his style of working and to adapt to his personality type without adapting to his team's different work approaches.

Mainyard Studios Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I’m one of the co-founders. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. However, I’d like to clarify some inaccuracies in your review to ensure anyone considering Mainyard Studios for their career has a more accurate representation of our company and the amazing team that keep the company going and growing. The role of "Marketing Assistant" that you have said was your role has never existed at Mainyard Studios. The closest equivalent was filled by someone who worked with us for three years and was offered the position after completing a marketing apprenticeship work placement with us. Your feedback about marketing resources is not accurate, we do have a marketing budget. Any member of our actual marketing team would be aware of this, as are our current marketing team members who are involved in budget reporting and allocation. Additionally, most, if not all businesses prioritise organic marketing results over paid. Another thing someone from our marketing team would know. With regards to your comment about staff turnover and career progression, your claims do not align with the reality here. We have worked closely with apprenticeship and local council-paid internship programs in the past and not all were successful due to not meeting the required academic standards (set by the learning provider) and work placement standards (set by both us and the learning provider) and were not permitted to continue. However, with regards to our full-time team members (recruited by us), over half of our current team has been with us for between four and six years, and a few have been with us for almost ten years (We started 12 years ago). We have developed a strong track record of promoting from within. Six out of our eight senior team members started as Community Hub Managers and have since grown into roles including Operations and Area Operations Managers, Finance Manager, Sales Manager and two newly created Area Manager positions for outstanding team members who initially joined as Creative Hub Managers and were seeking career progression. We strongly prioritise training and development. Every Friday afternoon is dedicated to personal development and training (followed by an early finish). We also provide competitive compensation, private health insurance and performance-based financial incentives. Anyone who is proactive in their development and performance finds opportunities to grow with us, as they probably would if they were employed in many other companies. We are fortunate to have a team of ambitious people who are wonderful human beings and I am so grateful that they choose to build their careers here at Mainyard Studios. As a small, independent, private/family-owned business, we’ve been on a journey of growth and learning. In the early years, when it was just us founders and then our first employee (who worked with us for 5 years), working hard to build something meaningful, we faced our fair share of bumps in the road and teething problems - like many business owners do. However, as we’ve grown, we’ve invested significant time, energy, and resources into our team, refining our processes, and strengthening our standard operating procedures. Our company culture and team dynamics have gone from strength to strength, and we now have a passionate, dedicated group of people who work together to foster a positive, growth-oriented and supportive environment where effort and ambition are rewarded. While we understand that not every workplace is the right fit for everyone, our team remain committed to supporting and investing in those who want to build something for themselves, support their teammates and serve our clients. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.
