Pros

Great company that has a true mission and fosters growth in its employees. Each employee really cares about the students, alumni, and company as a whole. It's refreshing to see how much staff goes out of their way to help others. The culture is great and it's a very positive place to be.

Cons

MakerSquare is still in startup mode... which is fun and exciting, but sometimes can require long hours, flexibility, and the wearing of many hats! --To me, this isn't really seen as a con, as it's helped me grow both professionally as well as personally... but I know this type of environment is not for everyone.

Thanks for the positive feedback! I'm happy you've been able to grow professionally as well as personally in your time at MakerSquare. You're absolutely right that the "wearing of many hats" type of environment is not for everyone, and we do our best to show new recruits the type of environment they would be stepping into during the interview process. Recently, this has been a winning strategy :)

Pros

Many companies will tell you, that which any potential employee would want to hear; that the organization truly cares about their people. They indicate that their employees are investments, rather than costs, and intimate further, that "they" are more of a family than a business. Harsh Patel, CEO of MakerSquare, genuinely embodies what it means to be a caring and conscientious manager, treating his employees as members of an extended educational family. I began at MakerSquare, as a student in their November 2014 Cohort ( a 12 week session ). Being unemployed before attending, I was open to virtually any opportunity to contribute to a successful enterprise. Without a hint of exaggeration, accepting an offer and working at MakerSquare has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. After working with the next class of students as a Teaching Assistant, I applied to work in the Admissions Department. Coming to work everyday never feels quite like work, and my coworkers have become lifelong friends. Harsh Patel and MakerSquare truly know how to foster a community of warmth and excitement. Working at MakerSquare, means interacting with a hand-selected group of individuals, all of whom are striving to better themselves. Our students come from backgrounds as dynamic as the JavaScript taught in the classroom; from designers to theoretical mathematicians. If you want the ability to be excited about coming to work, in a "more-windows-than-walls" hotel, in Downtown Austin, then I highly recommend seeking employment with MKS.

Cons

Working at MakerSquare can be very fast paced, and may not be ideal for people wishing to avoid a dynamic work environment.
