Great mission, many deserving people have gotten homes over the years. HOC counselors go above and beyond for clients. Opportunities for professional development are provided. Managers are flexible and understanding with work schedules.
Cons
There are major problems with turnover in certain departments. Senior management does not take employee concerns seriously and enables unprofessional workplaces in these same departments. Key staff are left out of important decisions; senior staff is extremely insular. There are almost no opportunities for advancement within the organization, and pay is far below market. As another review notes, there is no HR department; concerns and complaints are handled by senior staff. This makes reporting sensitive information uncomfortable, and follow-through on personnel concerns minimal.
