Pros
You will gain a lot of experience in many different types of events (private and corporate), from sales to complete planning.
Cons
Family run business...
As an event planner you are required/ responsible to do everything for an event from: sales, planning/ detailing , floor plans, billing, payments collections and training new employees. As a result, the detailing part is extremely time consuming (including receiving and keeping inventory for client's personal items) and often, you may not have enough time to complete what is the actual main requirement for an Event planner: NEW SALES. Each month you will have to finalize an average of 4->10 events/ Event Planner and also you will have to sale new business.
There are NO different departments for sales, planning/ detailing, billing etc., as you will find in other organizations.
No option for remote work although a lot of the planning part can be done remote. The company runs a proprietary system (J-Walk/ AS400) and does not offer access to remote use (only to email remote access).
