Pros
Excellent Benefits - Health, vision, dental insurance are great. On-campus amenities are excellent, including, but not limited to a full gym, Basketball and Volleyball courts, covered parking, on-campus coffee shop and cafeteria and comfortable working areas. A growing, young workforce makes the environment a little more lively. HR seems to be trying to slow the hemorrhaging of talent that they experienced starting ~a year ago through more fun activities, but Marvell remains a bit of a sweatshop. There used to be many very talented engineers at Marvell, but headcount reduction culled many of the higher-paid but more experienced engineers out, despite their loyalty through tough times in the past.
Cons
Long hours prevalent and largely expected by management Recently prone to headcount reduction Huge variation in effectiveness of middle-management (but there are some very good ones) Compensation is largely not competitive with the rest of the market and a low-ball offer is not unexpected, so bring in a competing offer to make sure they don't gouge you. Business ethics at Mrvl are a bit dodgy - from marketing and sales down to engineering. The executive team lacks the charisma that gives shareholders confidence and employees a sense of security and pride. I observed too much finger-pointing/witch-hunting when things went wrong before collaborating to fix problems. Things run a bit like a startup, but now that headcount is in the thousands, there needs to be more infrastructure.
