Pros

Smart people you can learn a lot from in the middle layer between executives and juniors. Raises every year. Generous PTO with unlimited sick time. Work with large brands.

Cons

Understaffed making workload extremely high with very little work life balance. And, when you’re on PTO or it’s the weekend, high likelihood you’ll receive some form of communication from work. Zero mental break, ever! Leadership is extremely hands on and in the weeds in day to day work that is far beneath them; I.e micromanaging. You’re expecting to reply to client emails almost immediately, basically you feel like you’re working with a gun to your head all day. Zero company culture and when upper management is asked the “culture” always circles back to the client work and not an actual environment centered around the company which actual employs you. Very much a put your head down, do your work and shut up environment.

Pros

The digital space by nature is always changing which allows for room for growth, challenges, opportunities, etc. Social media is generally a cool space to work to work in and try new things. As a small (but busy) agency, you will likely work on various of areas of the business.

Cons

If you’re good at your job and prove yourself, you will get more work without any recognition or compensation as others have mentioned. When people leave, you will also get their work without any recognition or compensation. If this continues, expect to be heads down with your work and completing client requests rather than going to the clients as the experts with recommendations. This cycle has led to “good enough” mentality. Lastly, don’t be fooled by the list of brands on the website. This does not accurately translate to active accounts that you could be working on.
