Pros
Close fellow employees. You get a smoked turkey for Thanksgiving. Vendors show up with food and snacks just about every day. Free soft drinks. Clean bathrooms. That's about it.
Cons
The CEO keeps his "own calendar" of your every move. God forbid you get sick! They will literally fire you for missing more than 5 days (but it's an "unspoken rule.") If you are sick, you are expected to make it up on your 9/80 flex Friday off. They'd prefer you just work 7 days a week in general. There are so many "unspoken rules" that employees literally have to whisper to each other in order to try and keep new people out of trouble. Don't have tattoos (people have been fired for this.) Guys have to shave every day. Make sure you use coasters. If you're running late, you're supposed to email your boss and the receptionist so she can put it on the CEO's calendar. You are expected to attend every offsite after hours meetings even if they run late into the evening. Dress in business attire for the week of the board meeting or else you will be sent home to change. DO NOT EVER FORGET PEN AND PAPER FOR MEETINGS (people have been fired for this.) Don't be late to any meetings (people have also been fired for this.) The CEO and or his assistant will come around and occasionally do "bed checks." There is a huge wage gap between men and women. Bad vacation time. There's also the assumption that everyone is Christian and wants to sing Christmas Carols and sing praise and worship songs. This is a public company and I don't know how they get away with so many things. The employee value is ridiculously poor. Crappy bonuses (unless you're special.) NO HR DEPARTMENT (BEWARE!) Basically, the only people that stay or "make it" there are the CEO's golden children (i.e. relatives of his, or relatives of his investors.) He loves to brag and boast about all of them every chance he gets so the rest of us are just sitting there like chopped liver just waiting to do something wrong and get the boot. The only people that can work there long time are people close to retirement and interns. That's their strategy...get the interns to sign on because they literally have no other work experience and just get brainwashed into that horrible culture. Bottom line, if you love a rigid, micro-managed, hostile environment where you live in fear of getting on the CEO's bad side, then this is the job for you!
