Pros

Wonderful co workers, clothing allowances, great employee discount.

Cons

MATE the Label is rooted in toxicity and it starts with leadership. If you are not aligned with the founders vision or express differing views (regardless of how wonderful or hardworking of an employee you are) you will be fired with no explanation. If you report this behavior to leadership in confidence, they will turn right around and tell the CEO. Management will say over and over again how they are trying to change, but it will never happen because of who's at the top. The CEO uses scare tactics so that no one will actually address their concerns. At a point this got so bad that leadership actually created an anonymous question forum that they would answer during All Hands meetings. The outcome? Leadership would skip the hard-pressing questions and not address them, all while preaching a narrative of full transparency. Opinions are one sided and everything is done for marketing and Instagram. If you are not favored by leadership, you will not get a raise or promotion but will be expected to do more work that is never recognized. It's time for MATE to cut the "wear many hats" start up attitude because it has been used for way too long. The reality is, leadership is in denial of what/ who the problem really is.

Pros

It was a learning experience.

Cons

Similar to others' reviews, very judgey atmosphere and vague-yet-harsh communication. Upper management felt checked out, doesn't know how to have difficult conversations, expected the world from employees with the bare minimum in return. Not the worst job I've ever had, but just a very tense and cliquey atmosphere - so many questionable comments and ways of dealing with conflict that make me cringe to this day.
