Pros

none i can not think of a single pro for the company

Cons

They have no consideration for staff, do not pay for travel and they lack any real managers. The office is a terrible work environment, the previous comments just show how bad they really are. They overcharge the clients for their own failures. over sell their skills and expertise. The ceo does not know how to talk or handle its staff. The company is doomed to fail if it continues down this road. There is not career opportunities or training, They offer no pension or health care. They also do not provide

There’s quite a few inaccurate statements in your review, such as we don’t pay for travel (we do), we don’t offer training (we do, we pay to send engineers to training courses and pay for their exams), and there’s no career opportunities (barring two managers, everyone else has been promoted from within!). We provide many benefits, and we’re always looking for improvements to our existing benefits. Hope your next opportunity provided everything you were looking for and more! Thanks for your feedback!

Pros

Small Business Mindset – Management is open to feedback / changes; nimble and constantly evolving operations; there’s not ten levels of management to navigate to get things done. Strong Process / Best Practices – Matsco has a solid process for changes to clients’ environment, project approval, and proposals, in that there’s several layers of approval. This is great. The Help Desk is run well: good management / supervisors, the team is well trained, and the tools and the division of labor during the peak times are great. Clients often have very positive feedback for both Help Desks. Growth Opportunities (…for the right people) -- While there’s not endless growth opportunities (again: small / medium size business), I can think of at least seven people who started at one position and were promoted to a different position / management. Several started at the Help Desk and advanced, which is a feat in itself. There’s quite a few staff members who have been with Matsco for 5-10 years, which for a small / medium size business is fantastic. Interesting Environment – Interesting and challenging projects and clients, and the opportunity to experience / get your hands on A LOT of technologies. Like (almost) anything, you get what you give. Those who work hard, take initiative and take ownership of projects / tasks / fixing issues will excel at Matsco. Those who want to show up to work / do the least amount of work as possible / leave will fail at Matsco. (I would argue this is true everywhere, but it’s especially true at a small / medium size business like Matsco.)

Cons

Because Matsco operates as a small / medium size business, it means that many things change, and regularly. That’s not for everyone. It also means staff wears a lot of hats and can / usually will get involved in many aspects of the business. That’s not for everyone. It means that the scope of staff’s job is not narrow. That’s not for everyone. For the right people, the aforementioned is great. For the wrong people, the aforementioned is a nightmare. That’s not Matsco’s fault, there’s not a single company on the planet that would be a perfect fit for everyone. When interviewing with a company, it’s as important to interview THEM as they are interviewing YOU. You need to know the areas you excel and you’re comfortable, and the areas that just don’t work for you. If you desire a rigid, static work environment and a job scope with tasks / responsibilities that are very specific and narrow, Matsco is not for you.
