Pros

Recognition and Growth Opportunities – Mattress Firm values its employees and recognizes top performers. I've won multiple awards, including Manager of the Year and induction into the Circle of Excellence, which shows the company rewards hard work and dedication. Performance-Based Incentives – The company offers strong incentives for sales and service, allowing high performers to earn well beyond their base pay through commissions and bonuses. Career Development – There are opportunities for advancement within the company. Training and Support – Mattress Firm provides solid training in sales techniques, customer service, and product knowledge, which can help employees build valuable skills in retail, sales, and management. Team Environment – The culture promotes teamwork and camaraderie, making it an enjoyable place to work for those who thrive in a sales-driven setting. Autonomy in Sales – Employees often have the freedom to run their store like their own business, allowing them to manage sales strategies, customer interactions, and daily operations. Customer Interaction – If you enjoy helping people, this job provides plenty of face-to-face interaction, assisting customers in finding the right sleep solutions. Flexible Scheduling (to an extent) – While retail schedules can be demanding, there is some flexibility for employees to manage their time effectively.

Cons

There is an abundance of information and it can sometimes be overwhelming. I've been in this industry for 19 years and I can say that Mattress Firm has very few "cons" that are hardly noticeable.

Pros

Supportive and approachable management team. Flexible scheduling that made it easier to balance work and personal responsibilities. Opportunities to transfer between locations for better career or sales opportunities. Competitive pay compared to many other retail sales positions. Relaxed, low-pressure sales environment that encouraged a consultative approach rather than aggressive selling. Positive workplace culture with managers who were willing to help employees succeed.

Cons

Delivery issues occurred frequently and required employees to be proactive in identifying and resolving problems. Communication between store associates and warehouse personnel could be inconsistent, making issue resolution more difficult. Coordinating out-of-state deliveries could be complex and time-consuming. Computer system slowdowns or outages during major holiday sales sometimes disrupted order processing and financing applications.
