Pros
I've worked as a tuition teacher for about a year now. The main draw was the promise of a structured curriculum and a modern approach to teaching. On the positive side, the curriculum is well-designed and the provided resources are excellent, which does cut down on a lot of prep time. The students are generally motivated, and I’ve had some success helping them improve their grades, which is the most rewarding part of the job.
Cons
However, the reality of the work-life balance has been a major issue for me. The company often pushes for extra sessions to hit targets, and these aren't always respectful of personal time. The communication from management can be a bit disorganized, leading to last-minute schedule changes that are difficult to manage. There's also a pressure to constantly demonstrate student progress, which can feel less like genuine teaching and more like chasing metrics. My advice for someone considering this role is to be prepared for a demanding schedule and to set firm boundaries early on. While the company offers great resources, the environment can be very sales-driven, so if you're a teacher who values autonomy and a healthy work-life balance above all else, this might not be the right fit for you.
