Pros

Working from home is the only perk

Cons

They promote an employee referral bonus and other incentives which are very misleading. You qualify for the referral bonus after you complete the training OR pass probation. What they don’t mention is that you can’t pass probation (which is 6 months long) unless you complete the training (which takes forever) AND are doing a minimum of 5 assessments per day (which no newly trained assessor is doing for a long time). So they hide loads of rules which allow them to extend everyone’s probation and not pay the bonus. It’s incredibly sneaky and dishonest. Not many people would take this job if they knew they made it so difficult to pass probation and get employment rights

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
