Pros

Good health care, Unlimited Time Off (but you rarely get a chance to use it due to the amount of work you have), and benefits for education and certifications.

Cons

You take on many additional responsibilities to make the project successful, but no one recognizes your hard work. CAREER GROWTH IS A BIG JOKE. Like in any other consulting firm, we are moved from one program to another after the successful completion of a project. At least consulting firms pay top dollars and provide good career growth, whereas in MAXIMUS, it is exactly the opposite. The less we talk about the salaries, the better. Irrespective of which city you live in, if your position is remote, the salary is way less; If you live in a high-cost-of-living city, that is not counted. The pay you see in the Job description includes your annual bonus; do not expect it to be separate. Maximus itself is a contracting firm for the Federal Government. They, in turn, contracted a few of their internal and own projects to other firms.

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
