Pros

- Less over-time work than with my previous employers (because they don't want employees to work more hours than they can bill the govt. for). - They haven't stolen any money from the employees.

Cons

- Below average salaries and benefits. - Complete lack of management. I haven't met with anyone above me on the contract org chart in almost a year and a half. I haven't had an annual review since 2015. - No possibilities for advancement (since there is no management to give promotions). - Managers are generally political hacks. My (on paper) manager has no ability to understand my work even if she were actually interested in what I do, which she doesn't appear to be since she never talks to me.

Pros

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
