Pros

Close to my residence, Hard Challenging Work, Have a need to have a hand in everything needed around the project, always busy, potential for promotion

Cons

Disorganized management from the top to bottom, Plans for department or area not shared with frontline employees, expectation for employees usually beyond job description, pay is low compared to other in the area, support from managers can be at times non-existent, sink-or-swim mentality at times with employees, frustration with work politics and issue

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
