Pros
Great pay, when you’re busy.
Free parking in building.
Free food.
Discounts in spa and hotel.
Cons
It’s like high school, but with cockroaches (real ones too, not just the colleagues).
Things are always breaking and the ceiling is always leaking somewhere in the spa.
Cockroach sightings all over in the spa, in the steam room, treatment rooms, salon, and prep rooms. But they always blame it on a burst pipe.
Toxic work environment, mostly made up of miserable “spiritual” women who are always being fake, gossiping and hating on people. And then they have the audacity to say you have “negative energy” when you isolate yourself. They’ll literally burn palo santo and then go gossip about you. Lots of people telling on each other. Just weird hater energy.
They’ll literally make anyone a manager.
There’s no accountability from front desk or management when they make mistakes.
The employee bathrooms are ALWAYS filthy and often times there’s no soap, paper towels, or even toilet paper.
Multiple people I know got food poisoning from the cafeteria, one of them got it so bad she got taken out on a wheelchair.
You get minimum wage for orientation, any and all mandatory training, and massage practice.
You get minimum wage for sick pay and pto.
My advice to every new person that came in during my time there: “don’t trust anyone. Keep your head down. Don’t talk to anyone. Just do your job and go home. The money is good when you’re busy. If you’re not busy just hide in your room.”
