Ok for a GC - Project Engineer McCarthy Building Employee Review

Pros

Company has good benefits and a variety of project types to work on.

Cons

You’ll be expected to relocate without consent, and managers don’t communicate with one another about the knowledge and capabilities of employees. Remote work is never an option. Regardless of efficiency or workload, 10 hour days are considered the bare minimum. You get sold on the employee stock program while they pay you much less than other companies, and promotions tend to be based on tenure and nepotism rather than performance.

Pros

Great company culture, exposure to some amazing projects, project teams are fantastic, camaraderie with your team, great resources and onboarding to ensure you learn to do your job well. ESOP and bonuses are great.. if you stick it out long enough.

Cons

Pay is not as competitive as other GC's, you can be relatively underpaid as they rely too heavily on preaching about the ESOP (which takes you 5 years to even be fully vested). Can be very political and leadership kinda plays favorites, some people who dont deserve it get promoted quick and others who do deserve it never get promoted. Long work hours and depending on the jobsite it can be pretty high-stress (but thats just construction for ya).
