Pros

Employees are very professional for the most part and the social environment is nice. People at this company make it what it is. If you brown nose the right senior manage, you will probably do well at this company. This company is also top heavy with women in management positions therefore I have seen women advance nicely and exceed males that are comparable or more experience. It is study work and there is always plenty of it... PTO is just the right amount, and you will need it at this place. If you are part of the college hire program, take it, its awesome and you will learn a ton about life at big company.

Cons

I don't know where to start...A huge cold Company, Internal disconnects, crappy outdated SW tools to do your job, Pressure, Overworked, Under Pay, Commissions are iffy, health insurance is high and there are core principles called ICARE that the company seems to violate when it comes to its own employees. The Customer is First, McKesson Second, Your Business Unit third and guess who is dead last? You....and you know it too. I have worked in high presure environments before including Engineering in manufaturing where a minute of down time can cost the company a $1M and this place doesn't come close to the presure which is placed on you by the fact that the internal business units don't really speak well to one another but yet "tag you are it". The training sucks badly and basically you are on your own from day one and you feel like it. "Sink or Swim" Two weeks after I started I felt like throwing in towel but I am no quiter. Anyone that tells you this is not true is simply lying to you. I have read a few positive postings about McKesson but mostly BS. I have experienced countless sleepless nights for years! I have trried to move up but its nearly impossible and I have actually documented my manager derailing my efforts to move on within the company...Oh yeah and your manager has to approve in wrtting that its ok for you to talk to another manager regarding a position even if its exploratory.. its like shooting your own foot. What are the chances you can do this in Q3 or Q4?...just about zero! Can't go to HR about anything because your manager seems to mysteriously find out, I have documented that too. So HR is basically useless. We just went through a major lay-off and although I am still there, there are signs that another wave may be coming just in-time for Summer... so warning.

Pros

1. relatively aloof culture for ICs to grow on their own 2. on and off few people are good 3. Actually consultants in india are better than some full time hires to work with. The h1bs in full time roles and some GCs/Americans are just 1 step away from unemployment line but there are some good quality consultants who can be directed well to bring in good work. Problem is lack of direction when middle management is just running after money.

Cons

1. top most management is clueless to what is going post the middle tier 2. middle tiers - VPs/SVPs/Directors and Sr. Directors are among the worst. Mostly cast offs from Consulting firms/Tech cos/Other Healthcare firms, this group has some of the worst, clueless folks who just think very narrowly about how to get rid of problems, maybe craft a story for higher ups. Get rid of this layer ( so called people management ) and co. could shine better on the work of ICs, decent software engineers and regular rank and file. 3. Main money maker distribution is different from tech group and the IT here is almost comical - 2 years ago in 2024 there were "directors" bringing AI agents with 90% hallucination .. I mean that has got to be an industry first!
