Take the time to scroll through the previous reviews and I urge you to take them seriously before accepting a job at this company. These reviews aren’t written by disgruntled employees seeking revenge. Everything you are reading is completely true.
It took me months to write my own review as I couldn’t put into words the complete disappointment and shock of working at Medcan.
The Medcan culture is built on fear and this is architected and driven by the president. Colleagues don’t/can’t trust each other and leaders are encouraged to throw their teams under the bus to save themselves. I have personally never engaged with a weaker leadership team from an Emotional Intelligence perspective in my entire career.
While it’s true that the workspaces are dreary and uninspired and the IT needs a massive uplift, they tout “transformation” opportunities to potential candidates. “Come be a part of something big, something exciting!” If you are a builder this could inspire or motivate you. They are selling snake oil. The leadership team cannot transform the organization because the culture itself is too broken to support it.
I won’t go into details on the non existent work-life balance or terrible benefits because these things many people could look past if they felt appreciated and driven by the company culture. You will not find that here. Most days are filled with rampant water cooler gossip by good people that feel like they woke up in a nightmare. It’s so bad it all feels surreal.
Additionally, no one understands the chaotic and perplexing company business strategy (which I’m convinced the leadership team still fails to understand.) They all pretend it’s all agile but it’s actually fragile decision making. The CEO and President change course easily on uninformed guesses and whims.
My advice: Your career is valuable. You are valuable. Do not waste your time and energy on this archaic, toxic and crumbling organization.
