Cons
1. Rapid changes in direction with no vision or plan. Senior management has no unifying vision and chasing either the latest fad or their own (unimpactful) pet projects. 2. Non-existent IT infrastructure for AI research. Unhealthy ratio of researchers: engineers resulting in poor productivity and blame games. Might improve over time but hadn't by the time I left. 3. Inexperienced and/or borderline toxic managers being promoted to very senior roles even though they have no people or project management skills. 4. Office in the middle of nowhere with poor connectivity. (Cambourne) 5. Considerable drama and conflict around remote work and enforcement of hybrid work policies. Accusing people of being sick etc. 6. Trying to be too many things at the same time with too few resources: a startup, a research lab, internal AI champion...
