Pros

Good people but leadership stacked peers against peers by assigning undue subordinate/insubordinate hierarchy based on minimal tenure. There were some preferences and it was silently noted amongst many. All in all though, great little company that will probably serve as a stepping stone to many creatives.

Cons

Unfortunately, right before covid I had been due for an annual review (and a pay increase if I’m being honest with myself). Instead they docked me 15 percent (as most businesses had to make cuts during these trying times). Still, they had me single handed my project manage and develop content, strategy, and ancillary ad materials for a campaign, only to fire me once I delete red the product. Ouch. Still appreciative of my time with them. Decent peeps.

Pros

Mekanic has given me many opportunities to learn, try new things, and take on leadership responsibilities. The leadership team is consistent and transparent in communicating feedback, checking in with me about how my work is going, and sharing important news about the firm's future, so I can understand how my role supports the big picture. It's a collaborative, creative atmosphere, and the agency clientele offers exposure to many different industries and professions. Compared to other small firms I have worked for, Mekanic's leadership is very invested in creating sustainable and scalable processes. Leadership wants to ensure each team member is fairly compensated, despite being a small & independent business in an expensive market.

Cons

Like any small business, Mekanic experiences growing pains at times. While the healthcare and retirement plan benefits may not match those of larger firms yet, taking care of the team is a priority for management and they are transparent about how future plans for this are in progress.
