50/50 experience - Care Coordinator Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Employee Review

Pros

When I first started the salary, my coworkers and some of the doctors were fantastic to work with. Truly the only plus of working here. Good first job or stepping stone for general experience. If you have good managers they can be a great support to you. Depending on the location, easier commute for regionals.

Cons

Constant change in work flow(lots of combining different roles into one, more responsibilities no extra compensation, no support or guidance from management, lots of figuring things out on your own), there are changes every couple of months and then when they realize it doesn't work it goes back. In regards to the changes it is very much either you do it or find another job. Another con is the lack of listening to feedback, as care coordinators who directly work with the flow, feedback is not accepted and instead brushed off as "inability to adapt to change." Senior management are unfortunately more concerned on budgets due to the financial deficits occurring. Not much career movement in terms of climbing up the ladder or real opportunities. Layoffs at anytime no warnings, so I suggest don't put all your eggs in one basket here. Work on things on the side and use this to satisfy day to day living.

Pros

A lot of people to work with and a great amount of exposure to different in-house counsel areas. If you are proactive, there are plenty of people willing to try and meet with you and explain things, though their time is limited. If you can pick at their brains, the Attorneys of the smartest and most hard-working individuals you'll meet. They have some fun events and team-bonding,

Cons

Lack of diversity in interns, which make fit and experience difficult. Even upon meeting diverse staff and people, there always seems to be a barrier and front. Attorneys generally have little time to teach you, but they do their best. Compensation is lackluster, but benefits and events are fun. Sometimes work can lag, and you must be proactive in seeking it out for yourself.
