Horrible HR and housing management - Postdoctoral Fellow Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Employee Review

Pros

The fact of having MSKCC in your resume and the amount of seminars/courses you have access to.

Cons

Dealing with HR is something that requires a lot of patience. Small troubles you may have or requests to change even personal information may take a long and tedious process where they can even answer to you something not even related to your matter. Same happens with the housing office. Housing for internationals should be provided considering that people can not have a look of the apartment beforehand. Housing has no information at all other than the location of the apartment for many of the apartments they have. Housing should provide more information so people knows what are they choosing and have no surprises. Security office to renew a lost or damaged badge is absurd. The personal think to be too important to be polite and you feel like asking them not to kill you, when it's just their job.

Pros

A lot of people to work with and a great amount of exposure to different in-house counsel areas. If you are proactive, there are plenty of people willing to try and meet with you and explain things, though their time is limited. If you can pick at their brains, the Attorneys of the smartest and most hard-working individuals you'll meet. They have some fun events and team-bonding,

Cons

Lack of diversity in interns, which make fit and experience difficult. Even upon meeting diverse staff and people, there always seems to be a barrier and front. Attorneys generally have little time to teach you, but they do their best. Compensation is lackluster, but benefits and events are fun. Sometimes work can lag, and you must be proactive in seeking it out for yourself.
