Pros

I've been working at the Shelby DC for over a year and was a supervisor for 6 months of that, recently stepped back down to team member due to management just not making smart decisions. Great benefits, dental is affordable and has good coverage. Paid holidays after a year of employment IPS increases with each year you work at Menards No worries of being fired or laid off, been there over a year and know folks that have been working there since the DC opened Most promotions are done internally so you know your supervisors and managers. Every 6 months we have a chance to get quit a bit of overtime and earn an additional $500 MCC usable at Menards outlets (A pretty good deal since Menards has about everything these days).

Cons

Medical is very expensive compared to other outside plans. You are ALWAYS at work, we are currently changing to 4 days a week 10 hours a day, during overtime we'll be working 5 days a week. This is actually better than the old 5 days a week, every other weekend but still most of your time is spent at work. Some of the people who get supervisor/management positions are honestly incompetent but are "buddies" with current management so they get the positions, I guess you'd say favoritism is pretty obvious here. During busy times management gets very whiny and micro manages everything.. they need to back off a bit sometimes. Many of the supervisors feel they are just too good to help or are better than any measly team member.

Pros

A few of the people are nice to work with.

Cons

A store manager who talks down to employees like they're children (and apparently gets promoted for it). A store manager who acts like employees are idiots for calling him to ask questions. Raises are pathetic. Understaffed because the store manager won't allow enough labor hours to do the job, particularly on Sundays when there's a lot of freight.
