Pros

Working at Menards offered a great hands-on experience for me. Their training programs, in-store management team (the good managers anyway), product training, and working with customers regularly allowed me to learn so much about home improvement, construction processes, managing a successful team, team-work, and customer service. My great team made the experience worth it.

Cons

The long hours that department and store managers were/are expected to work are rough, and sick days were unheard of. The corporate management team never seemed to recognize the employees as people. I've known a few great managers that moved up to store management levels, just to be demoted shortly after due to minor disagreements with corporate.

Pros

A few of the people are nice to work with.

Cons

A store manager who talks down to employees like they're children (and apparently gets promoted for it). A store manager who acts like employees are idiots for calling him to ask questions. Raises are pathetic. Understaffed because the store manager won't allow enough labor hours to do the job, particularly on Sundays when there's a lot of freight.
