Pros

If you want a 50% discount on overpriced cheap clothes that they call their own, or on ridiculously priced brands that 90% their clientele won't even buy, than this is your place.

Cons

I was with Mendocino for a long time, and let's just say I saw everything that went on in that company. If you want to make it in this company, you have to be conniving, fake, and gutless toward other women. I've never seen a higher turnover than I have in this company, increasingly in the last couple of years. They do not train their staff professionally. I've seen people stop showing up to work or walking out because they've been treated like garbage. It doesn't matter how much work you put into the company, you won't be recognized for it. They have their favourites in which you can see paraded all over their Instagram. I made a lot of money for them and all I ever got was negativity. They don't celebrate your victories, you only hear about the negatives. Their expectation of representing the clothes by only wearing current merchandise is obscene. And here's why: store managers are given $100 clothing allowance a month on top of seasonal allowances. Assistant managers and everyone below them not only are being paid less, but cannot afford to consistently wear current clothing when the turnover rate of clothes is so fast. When you do receive an allowance, it is generally controlled what you receive, but I was only ever suggest high ticket items to get which limited me to what I could wear to work, since you are only given a specific amount. They don't understand their clientele. Over the last few years they have completely lost sight of who their customer is. They have lost life long clients because they have no idea who they are catering to. The buying is terrible. With a company this small you shouldn't be buying a range of $98 jeans and then having $300 jeans placed right next to them. Or price a white collared shirt at $75 and then have one for $280. Who wants to buy a basic at that price? Even women with disposable money comment on the absurdity. They also get attached to trends and completely go over board. And most the time when the massive shipment of that trend hits the stores, people are already over it. The owners are rude and utterly disrespectful. They'll walk into the store and address employees by the wrong name. They'll tell you your outfit looks like terrible to your face. They have pissed off more employees than I have seen them appreciate. They also don't have a clue why the business is going down hill. Rather than listen to their employees who work with customers hands on every single day, they lash back at their feedback for being negative rather than constructive. Like most companies, the store managers hardly do any work. Most the time their sitting in the back room on their phones or causing drama between other stores. The gossip is out of control, everyone knows everything. Basically the assistant managers do all the hard work and get zero recognition for it. I've also seen girls be completely pushed out of the company because they weren't liked by other staff, even when they were probably one of their best sellers. And on the other hand have kept people employed who are the source of the problems inside the store.
