Passive aggressive management - Fact Checker Metropolis Magazine Employee Review

Pros

The offices are nice. There is free coffee available and a nice large refrigerator if you want to bring your lunch. There is also a microwave.

Cons

My supervisor had no managing experience. On my first day of work I sat there for 2 hours waiting for her to arrive to start training me. I didn't start working until midday. On my second day I was told I had to work faster even though I was not provided with any deadlines or parameters. I was provided with one hour of training and had to figure everything out on my own. I was never provided with a production deadline sheet or given any expectations. I'm a very hard dedicated worker and will meet expectations if I know what they are. My manager could not convey them to me. Instead, I would be contacted after hours asking how far along I was with the project. Apparently, my manager wanted to ship the story the next day. But I wouldn't know that. She didn't give me any deadlines or expectations, even when I asked. A person can manage a magazine and not be able to manage people. Stop with the passive-aggressive bull.

Pros

If you're interested in architecture and design coverage with any depth, this is a decent place to explore that.

Cons

Lack of strategic vision for what a magazine in 2017 should be doing.
