Pros
Academic freedom is endured. Instructors have flexibility in how they want to teach. Each campus its unique, no two classes are the same. Generational differences are a plus, you can have a high school dual enrollment student and a grandmother student in the same classroom.
Cons
I wish there were more opportunities to network and work with other instructors, including adjuncts and full-timers. (note there are about two events in the year that do bring in together adjuncts) Adjuncts are limited to engagement due to job classification. I don't see many benefits to having an SEIU, aside from getting spam snail mail for life insurance, credit cards, etc. I wish SEIU could engage members like UTD and the United Faculty of MDC.
