Pros

Worked with some truly great people until senior leadership started making working there so awful.

Cons

Truly think becoming a part of UHN ruined Michener. The pay is still much lower than elsewhere, the "perks" that were supposed to offset the low wages keep being taken away, and leadership expects people to do their work with no resources, no tools, no flexibility, and no opportunities for growth or recognition of staff's hard work. Beyond that, insisting people come back to the office with no other explanation than "for the culture" is absurd. What culture? Senior leadership aren't on site; why should the plebs be? Must be a coincidence that Michener has become a revolving door since the "Principal" took control of the Institute. His leadership has been a disaster for the school.

Pros

There aren’t really any pros.

Cons

The pay is very low compared to similar roles elsewhere, and it’s getting harder to justify staying. People are stretched thin, constantly covering gaps, and burnout is common. There are barely any resources. You’re expected to do everything, figure everything out on your own, and somehow still deliver at a high level. There’s no clear direction, but expectations are high and constantly shifting. There’s also very little flexibility, even when the work could easily allow for it. Growth opportunities are limited, and hard work often goes unnoticed. It feels like no matter how much extra you put in, there’s little recognition or meaningful support to help you move forward. Management is a big part of the problem. The culture feels toxic and disconnected. Decisions are made without input from staff, and concerns raised by employees don’t seem to go anywhere. Turnover is high, and it’s not a coincidence. People leave because they’re exhausted, underpaid, and feel unsupported.
