Pros
Microchip is a special company. Instead of having a few large customers, it has thousands of small customers. This makes it stable (one customer loss will not sink the ship). It has been able to weather a few economical storms better than the average technology company. It has a very pragmatic management style.
Cons
This place may not be very exciting for young people. A lot of products are 10+years old, which is fantastic from an ROI point of view, but very boring from a young energetic professional's point of view.
