Long Hours, Stressful, Poor Management, Little Pay - Computer Specialist Midwest Data Center Employee Review

Pros

Potential to advance quickly up the ladder (because of high turn over rate). Lots of opportunities to learn across many different fields (because you'll have to do every job there in some capacity). Small community (if that's your thing).

Cons

Work/Life balance is really poor, between pager and various "crises" you will spend at least 60 hours a week working. Management does not seem to care about employees' opinions. As a result morale is low, and the culture is depressing. Not given sufficient time to fix problems, so everything is a fire that has to be put out, and once you have put a patch on it you must hurry to the next fire. Too many customers for current company structure, that along with little pay makes for a very stressful environment that causes high turnover among employees.

Pros

MWD is a great employer for tech-minded people who want to live in a rural community. The employees are great and fun to work with.

Cons

If you don't want to live in rural Missouri this is not the job for you.

Pros

Great team of techs of all levels. Unlimited GROWTH and LEARNING opportunities. Company pays for all certifications, training courses, travel and expenses.

Cons

1 week of on-call is a requirement by all techs. This happens about 3 to 4 time a year. Depending how many techs we have on staff.
