Pros
- Modern office in the centre of Manchester. - Great team of engineers who are passionate about what they are doing. - Worked on some unique and very interesting projects in the fields of Computer Vision and AL/ML. - Lot's of opportunity to learn new skills. - Flexible working hours. - Team meals out when CEO visits the main office.
Cons
- No company values despite efforts from employees to define them. - Unclear vision and purpose - some projects seemed to be unrelated to each other - Some of the projects lacked longevity. - Some projects lacked direction from higher up. - No additional benefits other than stock options. - Not a competitive salary and not adjusted for inflation. - Equipment provided to engineers was not in line with my expectations. A lot of staff seemed to be working on personally-owned machines at home. - Only a handful of founding team remain. Original founders of the company left some time ago. - CEO is uninspiring. Not impressed by his AI knowledge, however he does excel at Sales and am impressed with his ability to procure investment and potential clients. - Felt as though neither the CEO nor my manager respected me. Felt as though I was not listened to by management on many occasions. - Too many group meetings with manager invited, felt like constant reporting of progress. - No obvious structures in place for career progression. - CEO in California and therefore sometimes late meetings in the UK. work life balance could be better. - "Our Team" section of website depicts the management, directors and advisors and none of the engineers. - CEO attempted to sell the company-owned pool table without consulting staff. - Management practices are unimpressive to say the least. - Overall this was my worst job experience. I would advise to stay well clear!
