Pros

This agency makes everyone feel welcome. My current job as a Parent Mentor has taught me a plethora of skills that I have to engage with the clients and trained me to be a successful Parent Mentor. As a person of color, I feel respected, and I feel that my role as a Parent Mentor is highly important in my community and organization. I feel proud of my role because I work with marginalized communities, and parents who are struggling with substance abuse, homelessness, mental health, and child protection services. Furthermore, the CEO, Katy Armendariz, is an amazing, talented, and always caring for her employees. Before I became a full-time employee, I was a part-time and working as a Mental Health Coordinator; and by August of 2021, I was offered a full-time position with good benefits. I highly recommend working at this social justice-based agency.

Cons

I would like to see more Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) in this amazing agency that offers culturally responsive mental health services. Also, the lack of Spanish speaking therapists is a downside for our clients that we serve, because we must refer them to another agency that might have Bilingual Spanish/English therapist.

Pros

MNCP is an incredible organization that works to break down systems for disenfranchised folks. So if you are passionate about creating an equitable world, this organization walks the walk and talks the talk. Also, Katy, the founder, is an incredible person, and many other lovely people work at MNCP.

Cons

There are no concerning cons. My only suggestion for new staff is that training can be sparse, so there is a learning curve with clinical charting. However, because of this, there is a lot of patience and understanding for newer colleagues.

Pros

--Competitive initial salary. --Supportive work environment and culture. --Life-work balance. I get to choose my hours as a full-time employee which is a huge perk when you have a family. --Flexible work environment. I can flex my hours when sick or when I have a Dr appt. --Ability to WFH some days of the week. --MNCP has a great mission and you can tell the employees here really care about the clients. --Great opportunities for advancement and to take on leadership opportunities are available. --Ability to work independently and as a group. --Great learning opportunities to develop professionally. --Free Continuing Education courses that are usually very useful and enriching.

Cons

--Some work is unpaid if you are part-time. --The company is not great with scheduling annual reviews which usually means no raises. --Training efforts could improve. --No 401k match (yet). --MNCP combines PTO with sick time which I would prefer to keep separate. Also, PTO is not very generous at this time. Overall, all of their current benefits could continue to improve. --Don't see a lot of underserved groups represented in leadership positions. --More efforts for staff acknowledgment/praise would be beneficial.
