The paycheck doesn't match the job - Event Manager Mirren Business Development Employee Review

Pros

The team was genuinely good to work with.

Cons

Look, I took this job excited about the work, but the compensation was insulting from day one and it only got worse as the scope kept expanding. I was basically doing multiple roles' worth of work, which honestly gets old when you're not being paid for it. The workload kept piling up but the salary never budged, which makes you start resenting the job itself even when the work isn't inherently terrible. Everyone around me was feeling it too, this sense of just... not being valued, and it eats away at you over time, you know? By the end I wasn't even angry, just exhausted and looking for the door. It's hard to stay committed when you feel like the company's getting everything and you're getting scraps.

Pros

Conferences, workshops, forums – there’s a lot going on. Real strategy behind everything, which helps with learning and growing. I work with experienced people who bring fresh ideas to the table. Managers are open to constructive feedback.

Cons

Making sure events run without a glitch is tough.

Pros

The office space is nice and many of the close colleagues were friendly.

Cons

Very unprofessional and erratic management treating employees like disposable objects. Leadership tends to be aggressive in how they handle things. The way feedback is given can feel more like calling you out than actually helping. You're expected to keep up with high demands without much support. Management doesn't take much responsibility, so problems just keep repeating. On top of that, the pressure never really lets up. You're always trying to keep up with expectations that keep shifting. For management, nothing is ever good enough, no matter how much effort you put in. There's always something else being added to your plate. It gets exhausting trying to stay on top of everything. You end up feeling drained way too quickly. There's also no real sense of support or teamwork. People mostly keep to themselves just to get through the day. Communication isn't great, so things get confusing fast. You don't really feel backed up when issues come up. It creates a disconnected kind of environment. That makes it even harder to stay motivated. This company is just not worth it.
