Thanks for your feedback. You do make a great point, there are many different kinds of positions for RNs at Mission, and a wide range of expertise needed. As far as the senior RNs "fired" during budget cuts, this was not the case, but there have been positions eliminated and departments adjusted to meet the current staffing needs of Mission. All employees who are affected by this type of restructure are supported by the Career Exploration Center to find new roles within the system if they would like to stay, and if they choose to leave, are given severance that is representative of their years of service. Our hope it to retain the expertise and knowledge of our experienced staff.

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
