Cons

Worked FT and PT over 10 year. Management awful, doesn't stand up for employees. Very dark miserable place to work now. Didn't use to be that way. Morale bad, patient care stinks. For such a big facility they are going backwards. Also physically dirty.

Thanks for your honest feedback, and your contributions to Mission Health for 10 years. We are sorry to hear your opinion of Mission has changed since leaving your career here. Just today we confirmed our journey towards Magnet status: where nursing delivers excellent patient outcomes, where nurses have a high level of job satisfaction, and where there is a low staff nurse turnover rate. We have been at Top 15 Healthcare System for and unprecedented 5 of the last 6 years, a national honor that recognized us for fewer complications and deaths, fewer readmissions, shorter wait times, and shorter lenngths of stay in the hopital (among other criteria.) Our own Dr. Paulus ranked 13 of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders in the nation: http://blog.mission-health.org/2017/06/21/mission-health-president-ceo-ronald-paulus-md-among-top-50-influential-nation/ . From our leadership to our front lines, Mission team members strive towards the Big(ger) Aim each and every day: to get every person to their desired outcome, first without harm, also without waste and always with an exceptional experience for each person, family and team member. We are excited about our new 12 story Center for Advanced Medicine, under construction and slated to open in early 2019 to better serve our community. From my view, it is a pretty bright place and definitely moving forward!

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
