Pros

- Coworkers are awesome and ER leadership does care - New equipment - Security response time to behavior situations is good - Most providers are nice and thankful for the RNs

Cons

- ER leadership does care but is unable to facilitate change - Staffing is embarrassingly awful. I constantly had to apologize to patients and family members about my multi-billion-dollar company sucking - Unable to care for my patients adequately due to high acuity with no ancillary help - The union rep is relentless and badgers non-union members every chance they can get - Nurses hardly ever get a lunch break

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
