Pros

Modern Process Equipment is a very transparent company, those who take initiative can learn a lot about supporting customer relationships, driving product initiatives, and developing a broad technical and operational skillset. MPE is located in Chicago, located close to a lot of the desirable neighborhoods within the city.

Cons

Not a con, but a note of caution - You should be enterprising and have well defined goals to make the most of your time here.

Pros

Dynamic environment, perfect to learn and develop your career. Coming from multi-national companies I love the flexibility and ability to reach your supervisors and get projects done. We also play soccer or basketball most lunches, which is great.

Cons

Because it is a small companies there is no defined structure of professional advancement.

Pros

The best thing about this internship was the company culture. It is a family owned company and you feel a part of that family right away. Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and they want you to succeed. I could really see with the projects they had me do were for my own experience, but also mutually helped the company in return. By the end of my internship, I felt like part of the team and nearly forgot I had to return to school in the fall. They gave me experience with multiple data bases, cold calls/emails, sales/marketing meetings, product quotes/manuals, new website development, writing professional content, and much much more. Any young professional looking for experience would love an internship here.

Cons

For me, the only con was my commute. I traveled from a northern suburb and the drive with traffic could be long. I would do it again in a heart beat and the pros HEAVILY outweigh my one con of a commute, which I was fully aware and willing to do. My only suggestion would be to look into living, either temporary or permanent, closer to the location to avoid hours of traffic!
