Once was a great company, now has turned toxic - Marketing Specialist Momentus Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Work/life balance (WFH), competitive pay.

Cons

With the restructure of the business from a family business (Ungerboeck) to one run by a private equity investment company (Momentus), the C Level's only care about $$ and kicking out staff who have been with the company for YEARS (good-bye knowledge loss, relationships built with external parties, and strong teams). Staff are promised that there will be no more 'restructuring', but this DOES happen every 2-3 months, without fail! The heavy cloud of being made redundant was held over my head for over a year when the new CMO started, making this workplace mentally and emotionally taxing. No opportunity for growth in the company, no one wants to speak up (afraid of being let go), less than zero trust in the marketing leadership, The company is nothing short of a sinking ship (and I am thankful to now not be a part of watching such a great company go down). Customers are also seeing these company changes in a negative light.

Pros

Young teams and leaders who are open to new ideas Unlimited PTO policy Fully remote, work from anywhere Real opportunities for internal movement and promotions Focus on development and stretch assignments

Cons

Direction can shift quickly as the business evolves, flexibility required Speed is a core value, sometimes at the expense of polish or process Remote-first takes intention as it's easy to feel disconnected if you're not proactive Unlimited PTO is great but you have to be disciplined about actually taking it Growing fast means some systems are still being built as we go

Pros

- Working remote gives lots of flexibility - Given freedom to explore new ideas in your role

Cons

- salary and benefits are below industry standard, and no real room for advancement - No trust between departments, toxic culture despite what leadership is telling you, they will often lie to your faces and make false promises - New leadership does not actually listen to their employees or the teams and are preparing the company for a sale instead of taking real steps to make things better - Product development is slow and dysfunctional because the leadership doesnt actually know whats going on. they are reactive + scrambling to have the appearance of productivity - product roadmap and sales pipeline is all built on a house of cards - the company is coasting on what has been built 20+ years ago. - the most toxic and political HR / "people" team ever. they would instill fear into teams by randomly showing up and "listening" - employee experience is not good - there is little communication about company strategy, employee changes, company direction. questions are asked on a routine basis only to get blown off with a political answer by leadership - no real career opportunities or advancement anymore. before, you were able to move up or across the organization. the new leadership has made that impossible, and feedback is not consistent or genuine
