Pros

The people. Some of the benefits.

Cons

Not really sure where to begin. I won’t be working here for much longer. I’m not sure what it was like 2-3 years ago but it’s not great place to work at the moment. The only thing that gets me through it is that my team are amazing. Agents are very supportive of each other and some of the team leaders are really down to earth. Most of us have never meet or spoken to the department head. Occasionally see the manager but she sits in her office most of the time. Feedback about how to improve isn’t taken on and taken as a direct criticism instead of a way to improve. The contact centre are treated like second class citizens. We have been in the office at the peak of a pandemic - taking calls and working emails throughout. We picked up tasks for other departments. Recognition is almost nonexistent. We don’t get half the opportunities the rest of the company get - most people get to go monthly company briefings each month, we can’t unless you come in early / stay late. We can’t get involved in projects unless you make the time back. The worst part is that they recently threw a summer party to thank everyone- the party was thrown in the car pack. The contact centre remained open all day - we watched people attend a party we couldn’t go too. They only allowed 5 people to change their shifts. The team leaders did organise for us to go over on our 30 minute lunches which was more than anyone else did. We have all worked so incredibly hard over the 18 months - worked non stop, long shifts, doing overtime, working 3 in 5 Saturdays, in the office at the height of a pandemic, picking up work for other departments who are still at home, and they couldn’t even let us attend a summer party for 4 hours.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review – as a business we value all feedback that we receive – it helps us understand how we can improve our employee experience and create a better working environment for all colleagues. We are pleased to read that you recognised both our people and our benefits as positive aspects of our company. Our people are the foundation of our culture, they are what make us great and we are incredibly proud of that aspect. Our benefits are something that we constantly review – so thank you for recognising this. We are saddened to read that your current experience here at Moneybarn is not as positive as it can be and that you have some frustrations across several aspects of your role, the wider team and general environment. We want every member of Team Moneybarn to enjoy working here, to feel valued and be able to voice recommendations and be part of the solutions. We need our employees to raise their concerns to be able to improve experiences within our business – with this in mind, the Moneybarn HR team would love the opportunity to speak with you in confidence to understand your feedback, so they can work with you to help facilitate conversations with your department leadership around your concerns. If you would like, please reach out to them – they are here to help. Regarding your specific feedback relating to the summer party. We understand that Contact Centre management tried to facilitate colleague attendance as far as was practicable and contacted all colleagues working in the department to understand their preferences in relation to the Saturday schedule. However, we have passed this feedback across to the relevant teams to review the scheduling of our parties moving forward. I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your colleagues within the Contact Centre for all your hard work – it does not and will never go unnoticed.

Pros

Close-knit team structure. Reasonable pay. Flexible working hours. New CEO is providing frequent and personal communication about wider business matters.

Cons

Increasingly combative and politicised culture. Colleagues are not open to exploring or discussing new ideas. The culture encourages work for the sake of work, colleagues are frequently online during their annual leave and after-work hours, and line managers have said that if you want to be considered for promotion you have to put in unpaid hours. No clear paths for professional development or growth in role and responsibilities. Line managers are disinterested at best and hostile at worst if you wish to discuss promotion opportunities. Senior leadership can be out of touch with business challenges and opportunities. Flip-flop approach to management from both line managers and senior leadership. The business doesn't reflect and learn from mistakes. However this appears to be changing with the new CEO.
