Pros
Students are highly motivated academically and socially. Teachers are well-supported with materials and professional development in most departments. Christian values are made of highest importance except in academic and educational foci. Staff are supportive and welcoming. Strong sense of community. Taichung is very accessible and inexpensive. Salary and travel based on number of people in family, compensating larger families. Money matched up to a certain amount for retirement investment.
Cons
Lots of gossip and secrets as is common in Christian organisations. Often can feel like a fish-bowl. Top-down leadership where the principal and superintendent are the authority on interpretations of faith and how that should be lived out. Suggestions carry the weight of authority. Teachers who do little very quietly can stay a long time. Salary is meagre, but sufficient. Favourites are clear and if you are not in then you have little recourse if something goes wrong (I have been on both sides of this) Strong encouragement to live a perfect Christian life externally without support for people to be sinners (school acts like a church while denying being a church).
