Pros

Apart from the CEO, the rest of the staff are lovely and the working day is enjoyable, UNTIL about 10am when the CEO walks in and the atmosphere changes dramatically.

Cons

Firstly I think you should be made aware that the majority of the positive reviews contain lies. Management is very poor and you will not be supported, unless your idea of being supported is being demotivated, sworn at and being patronised. You will be threatened with your job security if you fail to meet targets. Instead of giving you guidance and further structured training on how to do better in your role, the CEO feels he should take ownership of the deal proving he “still has it”. The commission here is uncapped however be aware that, even with your degree (from a top university), it is likely that you will be starting as an unpaid intern doing 11 hour days.

We advise anyone reading this review to look at our pictures to back up our claims this review is FAKE. Hello Again !! Usually, we are more than happy to have someone critique us here at Mortimer Bell, we can all learn from a bit of constructive feedback after all. However, the fact that you seem extremely motivated to harass & devalue the hard work of all the individuals that work here in Mortimer Bell, even going to the extent of making new accounts on websites solely with the intent of only leaving us a poor review as this is the 3rd bad review you have left now in a week which are all stating all areas of concern and are different every time. Which is very disappointing and verging on ‘Cyber bullying’ . We would love the opportunity to invite you into the office so we can show you all our training including our training academy which covers RT1 & RT2 training manuals which are produced by John Baxter who was an ex S -Three & Frank Recruitment Group trainer. As you will know as a previous employee of Mortimer Bell that we have invested a lot of time in providing a 1 week intensive training course for new arrivals and do online tests weekly for new staff to identify any training gaps so we can support all of our employees which is why I don’t understand this review and your comments on this point as you will have received and see all this training. You make comments on our CEO which we found very shocking as its our CEO who is the driving force of the recruiters as he come from a Global Recruitment Business prior to this . In relation to our CEO we can see the hard work he has put into driving the business forward which he has been doing, as you can see on Company House our accounts will show 250% growth on Profit and Turnover in 12 months which is fantastic growth and we achieved over 150% growth in 2017. The CEO has introduced and invested £10's of thousands into training and development for the staff. From all your 3 reviews we can see that you have personal issue with our CEO and a vendetta against him which is very unfair as all our CEO wish all of our ex-employees the best in the future endeavours. In relation to our staff ALL our current employees receive a salary as we have relationships with the top universities and the reason we do get graduates from the Top Tier universities is because we are a good business. Please do contact one of our Cambridge grads Richard Hindmarch directly on LinkedIn to confirm this. We would also be happy for any future employee reading this to contact us directly and allow us the opportunity to prove this to show this comment again is inaccurate and fictional like the other two reviews that have been written. On basis of targets - We set realistic targets set out by industry standards and professional recruitment coaches to ensure these are measurable and allow employees to stay motivated. Our management & CEO do everything they can to help support all employees and that is why we introduced Microsoft Teams and SharePoint to allow the employee to track their performance and raise any support or training needs they may need with their team leader. We are sorry if you feel that all the support and infrastructure Mortimer Bell has put into place wasn't enough, but we really are a lot further advanced than most recruitment agencies of our size. Even some blue chips in the industry are as not technology advanced as Mortimer Bell. In relation to attrition rates, the sales industry is known for high attrition rates and in relation to ours we have employees in the business that have worked for Mortimer Bell for over 3 years which can all be seen on our LinkedIn page and we pride ourselves on not hiring 5 . 10 or 20 staff at a time, we are very particular in our hiring and bring staff in at 2 at time to ensure the support and guidance is there. Unlike some agencies that hire 20 staff and let majority go, we dont believe this structure so in relation to attrition rates we are one of the lowest in the North East. So we don't have high attrition compared to the industry do we? However, respectfully I'd like to invite you down & I will show you our training academy, support documents for new starts, our induction process and a sit down with the CEO on how he motivates the sales force to be as successful as they are. If you are to look at our pictures on glassdoor im sure you will find many of happy / motivated employees and this will also showcase that we are not always about work and we really challenge the status quo of work hard / play hard. Perhaps this will change your opinion and you can now stop writing the reviews to leave some space for other real reviews. If you would like to speak with us, please email us on info@mortimerbell.com. Kind Regards, Office Manager

Pros

I joined as a Graduate fresh out of King's College London and with no clue about recruitment! It was tough, but I did receive the tools to become a good recruitment consultant and the advantage to working in an SME is that you can ask the Director for advice. Relaxed approach to work attire and a friendly office environment really make the long days fly by, and the office location right in the centre of Newcastle is a benefit. A table-tennis table was definitely a good investment. I haven't experienced other Recruitment firms to be honest, but I think the discretionary benefits/bonuses are above and beyond what I expected out of any employer. So far, I have been fortuitous enough to part-take in Lunch Clubs, Fun Days and Poker Tournaments (or should that be misfortune). Alongside this I have learnt a lot and been given numerous opportunities. I have certainly learnt how to get more out of a day in this job! Overall just a friendly office in a fast-pace industry based in the heart of Newcastle.

Cons

In fairness most of the cons of working here are like that in every SME, such as an undeveloped support network (i.e. no big IT/HR teams). As with most sales jobs if you go a long time without billing the hours do tend to drag and your mood in the office is affected by this mainly because some things are just beyond your control!

Pros

- Training - Commission Scheme - Friendly Culture - Modern Offices - Market Presence - Incentives I have been working full time at MBI for less than a year and everything is going great so far. The company provide thorough training and support to new employees to ensure that you get up to speed as fast as possible. Everyone in the office is very welcoming and friendly and they all provide help and advice with anything that you may be struggling with. The commission scheme is excellent and gives you a great incentive to work hard. As well as the commission, there are loads of other incentives such as bottles of champagne, fun days out if we hit targets, lunch club and other prizes for various achievements. The company is in a great position within the market and we work with many household name clients. There aren't many companies where a graduate can come in and, within 2 months, start doing business with Fortune 500 companies. The future is looking very bright and I can see myself being at MBI for many years to come.

Cons

The recruitment industry can be tough and hard work is essential if you want to succeed. Luckily, MBI have all the infrastructure in place to provide support and help you achieve any financial goals you may have.
