Pros

Management is committed to transforming Morton from a commodity company into a innovator that puts its employees' well-being and company culture at the forefront. The commitment to health and safety is second to none, top to bottom. Christian Herrmann is amazingly accessible and inclusive as a CEO, and is strongly committed to Morton's core values. Many, many employees have been at Morton 20+ years, and show a lot of pride at being part of a strong brand that knows it must protect and live up to its reputation every day. Focusing on innovation and value-added products will stabilize the company against the commodity markets that are a huge chunk of its historical bread and butter. Benefits improve all the time, and a new performance management system will motivate and reward employees for their hard work. Morton also loves to give "swag" to its employees, and I see the salt girl everywhere I look at home and at the office.

Cons

There are bumps in the road with the transition. There is still an "old boys" network of long-tenure employees, and politics and favoritism are factors, as at almost any large company. There is a lot of volatility in the bulk deicing market, and in the parent company's potash market, so green winters and low commodity prices make a dent in earnings that can be worrying.

We’re very excited to hear that our long-term strategy is so well-received and employees like you feel included, inspired and passionate about our future. We’re working very hard to strengthen every facet of our business and product offerings to ensure we are not exposed to volatile factors. However, it’s important to remember that even with these factors our business and profitability continues to grow. Employees like you are the reason we will continue to thrive and we’re confident and excited about our future. Thanks so much for your response
