Pros
Motorola is a great technology company albeit it has languished somewhat due to bad management decisions. The company offers its employees a reasonable working environment and good project opportunities. Its a good place for people wanting to have a diverse technical career as there is the option for well performing employees to switch projects/ technology domain and work for another design/development center without having leaving the company and losing their history and seniority. The company is fair in recognizing performance. Good performers are rewarded both financially as well as with growth opportunities. The annual review process which incorporates a dialog with one's manager each quarter allows for plenty of opportunity for feedback as well as expression of professional interest. Motorola supports employees pursuing higher education it pays for fees and course materials this may have changed recently due to the cost cuts.
Cons
With all the layoffs there is hardly any job security, additionally the salary is mediocre. There are too many layers of management. At some of the sites there were too many managers not sufficiently technically focused and not performing any useful function. The company focuses too much on irrelevant processes such as digital six sigma.
