Pros
In the much too short time I was there, I could clearly see that the staff that I worked alongside genuinely & deeply cared for the women that reside there. That was reflected in the exceptional quality of care they provide.
Cons
The training program was thorough in theory thorough, but the staff person that I was assigned to observe and work alongside had a bit of an attitude about the thoroughness of the training she wanted to provide. I spoke privately to the "Sister" Manager of the particular "cottage" I worked in about a few things that concerned me & therefore could use some improvement. I also made some suggestions on how to implement the improvements that needed to be attended to. To my face she seemed open to and appreciative of my suggestions. I don't know what was said to upper management about it, but I was subsequently terminated. "Ït's just not working out."
Regarding the hourly wages: This is a non-profit facility.... & that is reflected in what they are willing to pay, which considerably below "market".
