Pros

George Washington, the mission, the place, the history. It is at the core of our country's meaning on so many levels, and is inspiring. You always learn new things. How can you not love being where George Washington lived and thought, met with other founding fathers, and helped to form the country?

Cons

Very negative working environment from the top down to middle management. It is dominated by men and there is no room for a woman in leadership. The men at the top--in all areas--are interested in themselves even though they give the impression (on the surface) that they are altruistic gentlemen. No transparency even though it is listed as a value. No integrity at the top except for a few female VPs. Just a bad all around working environment. The saving grace are some of the employees who have been there a long time--their devotion and excitement keeps you going.

Pros

This was a very enjoyable experience at a well-functioning and well funded house museum and organisation.

Cons

There are a lot of departments, and I don't know how it is doing these days.

Pros

history food discount you can take guests to the estate for free walking on the estate during your break gift shop

Cons

awful management, unrealistic and unsafe work environment that exposes customer service employees to the elements. Multiple employees have gotten pneumonia from exposure, and an employee even died on the estate from getting hit by a tree a couple of years ago. I would never suggest working here with such low pay, and they keep almost everyone on part time so they don’t have to give bennies.
