Pros

Great health benefits, great discounts and get to help dog and cat owners.

Cons

They say that everyone at Mud Zaby is valued but as a store manager you are not. Training and development is not valued or seen as a high priority. They have a great training program, however the District Managers don’t make this a priority. Mud bay is becoming like any other big box store and it feels as if they don’t care about the importance of knowledge for their teams. When I came to Mud Bay 5 yrs ago they talked about and taught the value of customer service. It now feels like any other retail store that sells something. Yes your teams say hello to customers but that’s the end of it. There is no more of a feeling of a small local establishment. It’s disappointing to see this slip away for them. They focus on building someone who can manage a store but they don’t build leaders. The way to do well at Mud Bay is yo be a yes man and give everything to your team. Make them happy even if it is detrimental to your business and to your Managers.

Great company. Very friendly and professional. Treat you like a family.

Cons

Your work night shift. So if that’s not your thing you won’t like it.

Pros

The employee discount is great, best benefit of the job in my opinion. You get 40% off all products. My immediate team and manager were absolutely wonderful and the work atmosphere was great. You get to pet cute animals every day and help people solve their pet-related problems. When I started, there was great training and education, but that has recently gone downhill.

Cons

Even though my team was awesome, you can be sent to other locations when there are call-outs, and not every store has a good manager and co-workers. It felt a bit hostile when I went to work at other locations. Upper management is a total joke. They are controlling and make decisions that impact store employees without consulting those who actually work in retail.
