Pros

Great team, great store manager, great training program, excellent support from management (Lacey location) to help you get promoted, great benefits, and great customers.

Cons

Mud Bay CEO's have lost sight of what they once were. When I started, they were passionate about the employees, the customers, and their training program. They started a great DEI program, but it felt like they no longer cared about the rest of us. They began to reward bad behavior instead of addressing it like they used to. They started opening too many stores and paying employees less. They began requiring employees to work at multiple locations, so you no longer had that bond with the team you were hired to work with. They were supportive during COVID-19 and did their best to keep the stores open for employees and customers. This did run the teams ragged though. It started to fall apart from there. No there is a disconnect between Home Office and the store level. I still visit some of my old stores that still have some of the same team members and they all are fed up, sad, and/or disappointed in Mud Bay.

Pros

Great company. Very friendly and professional. Treat you like a family.

Cons

Your work night shift. So if that’s not your thing you won’t like it.

Pros

The employee discount is great, best benefit of the job in my opinion. You get 40% off all products. My immediate team and manager were absolutely wonderful and the work atmosphere was great. You get to pet cute animals every day and help people solve their pet-related problems. When I started, there was great training and education, but that has recently gone downhill.

Cons

Even though my team was awesome, you can be sent to other locations when there are call-outs, and not every store has a good manager and co-workers. It felt a bit hostile when I went to work at other locations. Upper management is a total joke. They are controlling and make decisions that impact store employees without consulting those who actually work in retail.
