Pros

The only pros to working at Mud Pie is the dog friendly office and the ease/access to product for gifting if you’re in a pinch.

Cons

Mud Pie loves to hire very young and inexperienced people who they can pay extremely low salaries to. Salaries are so much lower than every other company in the industry. Raises are few and far between and when given are so incredibly minuscule that it barely makes a dent. Bonuses? Never! There is zero appreciation from owners and “senior leadership”. All they care about is making themselves more money… not the hardworking employees! You will get talked down to and made to feel like you are unimportant. Very catty and gossip filled office. If you enjoy high school cliques and pettiness then this is the place for you! If you don’t bow down and agree to every single thing “leadership” says, speak up if there is an issue or raise concern on any unethical behavior then you’ll be fine but the second you question any of the companies corrupt internal behavior you will be pushed out immediately. Nepotism is at the core of Mud Pie and makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or get anything done or resolved. If you are looking for schedule flexibility, work/home life balance, or any sort of modern day incentives, stay far away from this place! (Especially if you have a family, are a new mom or even plan to be pregnant) Beware of positive reviews- current employees are encouraged to make fake positive reviews to look better!

Pros

The people within my department were great to work with. My specific job was relatively relaxed for the most part.

Cons

The benefits are not good. You only get 10 days of PTO your first year, and 15 in your second, but sick days are included in that, which is insane. We didn’t even get holidays like MLK Day or Juneteenth off, which feels verrrrrrry weird considering that Mud Pie is only a gift company, not essential workers or anything. The president/c suite also made a lot of decisions that did not take employees’ health or satisfaction into account. For example, when it snowed most recently, they didn’t let us leave the office until after the snow started sticking, resulting in multiple people (myself included) nearly getting into car accidents on the way home. When it snowed the week before that, they made us come into the office without salting the sidewalk or parking lot, resulting in myself and another coworker falling on the ice. Employees work remotely every Friday, but the president/c suite took that away during Christmas and New Years with only a couple weeks’ notice despite people already having travel arrangements made.
