Pros

I've loved every minute of working at Mumsnet! The recruitment process was good but, relatively vigorous. I had to do a competency-based piece of work, phone-interview, face-to-face interview and a culture-fit interview. Despite it being quite a vigorous process, it just made me aware of the fact Mumsnet were doing it for my own good because they want to ensure they are recruiting people who embody their values and who will fit in. The on-boarding process was stress free and quick, which meant I was able to start properly working within my first week. I've also never come across such a well organised and informative intranet which was super helpful during my first month of working at Mumsnet! The environment at Mumsnet is really friendly and sociable. There are monthly wine o'clocks and socials where you can meet new people which you wouldn't normally come across in your day-to-day job. I would highly recommend working at Mumsnet to anybody!

Cons

Mumsnet currently does offer flexible working, however, I think it could be made more flexible by introducing a flexible working policy whereby employees are able to work their hours surrounding core working hours that Mumsnet implement. At my previous employers, the key hours were between 10AM-4PM - everyone had to be in during these times - but you could work your hours around that e.g. my hours were 8 (incl. lunch), so I could come in at 8AM and leave at 4PM or come in at 10AM and leave at 6PM.

Pros

The owner loves to boast that parents will “never miss a sports day”

Cons

In reality the company is filled with miserable employees (mostly women) who are burdened with the golden handcuffs of having the flexibility of working around childcare but hating your job.
